FERRYBANK MOTORS OPEL PROUDLY SUPPORTS WEXFORD WANDERERS RUGBY CLUB
Ferrybank Opel, Main Opel Dealer and dedicated supporter of women’s rugby, recently presented rugby balls to the U18s women’s team at Wexford Wanderers Rugby Club (WWRFC). The initiative is part of Opel Ireland’s Drive the Passion programme, which aims to enhance the local rugby scene by providing equipment to clubs throughout Ireland. As a proud sponsor of Irish Rugby and the official car partner of the IRFU, Opel is committed to supporting grassroots rugby.

The U18 women’s team at Wexford Wanderers has enjoyed an outstanding year, clinching four major titles: the Leinster Cup; Leinster League; Southeast League; and the School Senior Cup with Loreto Wexford. Among the standout players are Irish U20 Women Robyn O’Connor and Orla Wafer, as well as Leinster U18 Women Shannon Codd and Melissa Quirke, who all attended the handover. Additionally, the Senior Women’s team achieved promotion to Division 3 last term, marking an incredible season for the club.
Annamarie Russell, Director of Women’s Rugby at Wexford Wanderers, shared her excitement: “A huge thank you to Ferrybank Motors Opel for this fantastic donation of rugby balls! This support means a lot to our team, and it will definitely boost our training sessions. We’re so grateful for this generous gesture.”

Opel began its mission of donating rugby balls to rugby clubs nationwide in late 2023 through the Drive the Passion programme. By supporting Wexford Wanderers RFC and successfully partnering with several prominent clubs across Ireland, Opel continues to enhance the rugby experience at the grassroots level. Opel's goal is clear: to strengthen the bond with Irish rugby and actively empower future stars by supporting local rugby clubs.
